  parent and draws on his deeply personal experience in working to secure a
 ccountability and systemic change in the NHS and government following the 
 loss of his son\, Matthew\, in 2020 during a mental health crisis.\n\nHis 
 experience highlights how vital it is to balance the legal requirements of
  an investigation with clear\, humane and empathetic communication with fa

 Trust’s handling of the initial news of death\;\n• The Priory’s Seri
 ous Incident Report\;\n• His own investigations and use of FoIs and SARs
 \;\n• The fight to get an independent investigation\;\n• The CQC respo
 nse\;\n• Inquest strategy of my legal team v the Priory: expert witness 
 challenge\, jury conclusion options and PFD\;\n• His push for criminal p
 rosecution and how he settled the civil litigation\; and\n• What lawyers
  representing health bodies can do better.\nSpeaker:\nRichard Caseby\n\n\n
 Richard is former Managing Editor of The Sunday Times and was a board dire
 ctor of Times Newspapers Ltd for over a decade.\n\nHe led teams of lawyers
  during the worst corporate crisis in News Corporation history\, was a con
 sultant to the Director of the Serious Fraud Office and both Houses of Par
 liament and has given evidence in person to select committees and other go
 vernment inquiries.\n\nAs Director of Communications for Whitehall’s lar
 gest department\, the DWP\, Richard led national policy campaigns for five
  Secretaries of State.\n\nHe later worked as Middle East Communications Co
 nsultant for the UK Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet Office\, advisin
 g ministers and Royal Offices in Jordan and Oman.\nTim Toulmin\n\n\nTim fo
 unded Alder 15 years ago and provides strategic communications support acr
 oss a wide range of complex issues\, including sudden incidents and fatali
 ties\, criminal investigations and trials\, civil litigation\, inquests\, 
 employment disputes\, and EDI-related concerns.\n\nBefore founding Alder\,
  Tim was Director of the Press Complaints Commission\, where he dealt dail
 y with the media\, government and senior lawyers on matters of press regul
 ation\, privacy and ethics.\n\nHe serves as a trustee of several education
 al and campaigning organisations and works closely with our lawyer partner
