A panel event to discuss “Do recent environmental fines show us the future for health and safety cases?”

Online Zoom and in-person seminar, Christmas drinks and opening of nominations

5pm – late, Thursday 30 November

Please join us for a seminar and Christmas get-together. This event will also be the formal opening of nominations for positions on the Committee. Nominations will close on 22 December and further guidance on the nomination process will follow.

In recent years there have been fines of £20 million and £90 million in environmental prosecutions against water companies, the levels of which we are yet to see in health and safety cases. Do these cases show the way that health and safety fines against Very Large Organisations might go? Do they now set a new bar? What can we learn from the Courts’ approach to sentencing in these cases and corporate offending that we need to take into our health and safety practice?

Join the HSLA for a discussion with an expert panel of barristers who practice in this area to discuss.

The panel event will be followed by the opening of nominations to stand for HSLA committee positions. HSLA Chair, Danny McShee, will set out the process for nominations and how you can run for positions. Nominations will close on 22 December and further guidance on the nomination process will follow.

Christmas drinks and canapes will follow the event, so please join us.
